Visa Requirements

Getting Your Tanzania Visa

Most tourists visiting Tanzania from overseas will require a valid tourist visa. Visas can be obtained from your nearest Tanzanian mission or consulate, usually within one day. Though this is the recommended approach, it is also possible to obtain a tourist visa for a single entry at one of the following main entry points, subject to fulfilment of all immigration and health requirements:

  • Dar es Salaam International Airport
  • Zanzibar International Airport
  • Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA)
  • Namanga Entry Point (Tanzania–Kenya border)

For all other entry points in Tanzania, visitors must hold a valid visa prior to arrival.

  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required when arriving from a yellow-fever-infected country in Africa or the Americas.
  • Citizens of most countries require a visa, which can be obtained on arrival.

Entry requirements can change — please contact your local Tanzania embassy to verify this information is current before you travel.
